Letter to the Editor: I-526 expansion

The I-526 expansion is not necessary. To build another bridge to James Island from Johns Island when a practically new one is a short distance away is unnecessary and wasteful. Not to mention destructive to the environment and character of one of the most beautiful areas left on James Island.

It is hard to believe that anyone could even conceive of putting a highway through a residential area like this one with a beautiful park, senior center and homes where people have lived for generations. There are many reasonable alternatives that would improve traffic flow and not cost nearly so much. I think the money would be better spent to help CARTA.
